Game hiring was starting to look like it was improving in the second half of the year. However, according to job resource aggregator Amir Satvat, the momentum seems to have slowed down.
In a LinkedIn post, Satvat indicated that the number of available roles has decreased more than expected, dropping from 14,691 to 12,666 over the last three months. While some of this decline is due to positions being filled, Satvat estimates that a significant portion is also a result of a slowdown in hiring.
Recent job cuts in the industry include layoffs at Microsoft, Evening Star, Annapurna Interactive, Lost Boys Interactive, and Tilting Point. Satvat mentioned that the turnaround in hiring might be delayed to Q1 2025 if there are further job reductions or a decline in available positions.
