Fortnite’s latest event took a different approach compared to previous ones. Instead of a single-day event that dominated the game, this time players witnessed a storyline unfolding across the map over several days. The Fortnite Pandora Box was eventually unlocked after players collectively dealt over 5 trillion damage!
Epic Games has employed similar mechanics in the past, where players join forces to defeat a common enemy. However, this time it seemed like Epic had a more active role in controlling when the Pandora Box would be opened.
Fortnite Pandora Box Event
As the past week unfolded in Fortnite, noticeable changes began to occur near a Point of Interest (POI) on the map. Cracks appeared, followed by smoke and lava, and eventually a new chest emerged with a hand holding Pandora’s box attached to it.
In mythology, Pandora’s box contained all the evils of the world, but also hope. Players were given the task of opening the box by breaking the chains surrounding it. These chains had a hefty 5 trillion HP, but players managed to accomplish the feat relatively quickly, unleashing a fiery tornado in the process.
So, how did players manage to open the box so quickly? Epic Games introduced damage multipliers to speed up the process. These multipliers gradually increased as the event progressed, allowing players to deal more damage and break the chains faster. By the final hours of the event, the multiplier had reached 30x, significantly boosting damage output.
How Was the Box Opened So Quickly?
The quick opening of the Fortnite Pandora chest can be attributed to the damage multipliers implemented by Epic. By adjusting the damage dealt to the chains, players were able to achieve the target of 5 trillion health within the specified timeframe.
Although knowing that the event was orchestrated to conclude at a specific date and time may reduce some spontaneity, it doesn’t take away from the collective excitement of the event. The Fortnite Pandora Chest will remain on the map as a tornado until the next season begins, hinting at a mythology-themed experience to come.
With just a few days left until the new Fortnite season kicks off, players are eagerly anticipating what’s in store for them in the upcoming adventures.
