After a string of disappointing results for FlyQuest, it’s safe to say that Australian CS is making a strong comeback. The team from Down Under emerged victorious from ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024, defeating BIG in the Grand Final. This victory not only earned FlyQuest a $50,000 cash prize but also secured them a spot at ESL Pro League Season 21 next year.
FlyQuest Crowned ESL Challenger Atlanta Champions in Three Map Series
Although it wasn’t an easy journey, FlyQuest managed to secure the CS2 championship at ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 after a tough three-map series. They won the first map on Ancient and narrowly missed closing out the second map on Vertigo, which went into overtime.
In the final Dust2 decider, FlyQuest took a commanding 9:3 lead in the first half. Despite a strong comeback from BIG in the second half, FlyQuest managed to maintain their lead and secure the victory with a final score of 13:9 in their favor. While it may not have been a flawless victory, it was a significant milestone for the team, especially for players like aliStair who won their first-ever CS trophy. Congratulations to FlyQuest on their well-deserved win.
aliStair Shines Amid Criticism
Of all the FlyQuest players, aliStair has faced the most scrutiny recently, especially regarding his performance as an AWPer. Prior to ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024, his numbers weren’t impressive. However, during this CS2 tournament, aliStair stepped up and played a crucial role in saving his team multiple times.
In the final Dust2 decider, aliStair delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing his clutch abilities and landing impressive shots against BIG. This level of play from aliStair has yet to be seen in Tier 1 competitions, but facing a solid team like BIG makes his performance even more commendable. If aliStair can maintain this form, FlyQuest is poised to make an impact at larger events in the future. We look forward to seeing more of his exceptional play.
