Wise, a money transfer and fintech company, announced on Friday that some of its customers’ personal data may have been compromised in the recent data breach at Evolve Bank and Trust.
The impact of the Evolve data breach on third-party companies, their customers, and users is still uncertain, with the possibility of affecting companies and startups that are yet to be identified.
Wise stated on their official website that they collaborated with Evolve from 2020 to 2023 to provide USD account details, leading to potential exposure of Wise customers’ personal information due to the recent breach at Evolve.
Wise is in the process of notifying all customers who may have been affected by this breach directly.
The data shared with Evolve by Wise included personal information of U.S. customers such as names, addresses, date of birth, contact details, Social Security numbers, or Employer Identification Numbers. Non-U.S. customers also had another identity document number shared.
The exact number of Wise customers impacted is currently unknown as the company is actively investigating the extent of the breach.
