The date scene at the Gold Saucer in the original Final Fantasy 7 is one of the most memorable moments. It was a key part of the game that Square Enix had to include in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. In the original game, players could go on a date with almost every member of the cast, not just Aerith, thanks to the hidden relationship system. Fortunately, Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth introduces a new bonds system that makes it clearer how strong your relationship is with each character. This directly impacts who you share a special moment with near the end of the game.
How to date each character
The character you end up going on a date with at the Gold Saucer is determined by the strength of the bond you have built with them. If you don’t actively sway the balance, you will likely end up with Aerith, but you can also date Tifa, Barret, Yuffie, and Red XIII to experience different events.
Bonds are formed in various ways and are represented by emojis above characters’ heads in hub towns as they wander. The earlier you choose who you want to date, the easier it is to make it happen. Once you make your decision, make sure to interact with them whenever possible, agree with their opinions, and bring them into battle to unlock and use synergy attacks with Cloud for a bond boost.
The most significant bond increase comes from completing sidequests related to that character. These quests usually involve the character you are bonding with, so make sure to do them if you want to date that character. By skipping quests not related to your chosen date, you can avoid unintentionally raising bond levels with other characters.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth provides a warning before the date night, giving you a chance to complete additional quests to ensure you date the character you desire. Once you are confident, go to sleep and await your partner to take you on a night out.
You can revisit this chapter after completing the game, and with a character’s bond above a certain level, you can select your date, allowing you to see all the scenes.
