Fallout 5 hasn’t been officially announced yet. However, with the success of the new Amazon-produced Fallout TV show rekindling interest in the post-apocalyptic series, rumors about the next Wasteland adventure are starting to surface.
The location, factions, and even the potential name of the next dog companion in Fallout 5 remain unknown. Stay tuned as we update this article with emerging information and rumors.
Release Date Speculation
Fallout 5‘s release date remains uncertain. Bethesda Director Todd Howard previously stated that the game would not be released until The Elder Scrolls 6 is completed, which is rumored to be in 2026 at the earliest.
With the success of the Fallout TV series, there are speculations that Bethesda might consider fast-tracking the development of Fallout 5. However, based on the current development timeline, the release date is estimated to be around 2030.
What We Know About the Game So Far
The only confirmed detail about Fallout 5 is that it will be set in the U.S. Despite fan theories about exploring other parts of the post-apocalyptic world, Todd Howard has ruled out that possibility.
Howard mentioned in an interview with Kinda Funny Games, “My view is part of the Fallout schtick is on the Americana naivete and part of that. And so, for us right now, it’s OK to acknowledge some of those other areas. But our plan is to predominantly keep it in the U.S.”
Another significant question for the franchise’s future is the integration of multiplayer gameplay, following the mixed reception of Fallout 76‘s multiplayer experience since its launch in 2018.
