A group of former Homa employees has successfully raised $1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round for their new venture, PlayMakers, a user-generated content platform.
Headquartered in Paris, PlayMakers is focused on developing a range of tools that can enhance any gaming experience by empowering players to create their own content. Users will have access to technology that enables them to design assets like 3D characters, animations, music, and more.
Founded a year ago by former Homa publishing managers Ilan Nabeth and Costantino Carrega, along with ex-Infineon Technologies automation engineer Maxime Niankouri, PlayMakers has attracted significant interest from investors. The funding round was spearheaded by RockawayX and also included notable backers such as Sandbox co-founder Sébastien Borget, Homa founder Vincent Hart de Keating, and former Xbox France Managing Director Hugues Ouvard.
Community Engagement
Speaking about the platform’s mission, PlayMakers CEO Ilan Nabeth highlighted the increasing popularity of generative AI and the shift towards player creativity.
He stated, “With the emergence of generative AI, more players are transitioning into creators. Creating valuable content is becoming more accessible, and players are traditionally vocal. Through PlayMakers, we aim to assist both small and large game studios in engaging their players in game development through a dedicated and robust platform.”
Nabeth emphasized the ambition to establish a new industry standard that enables players to contribute new content to their favorite games and receive recognition when their creations add value.
“Studios supported by PlayMakers will experience accelerated growth in their games, thanks to the enthusiastic involvement of their audience,” he concluded.
