Electronic Arts has introduced the EA Sports App in collaboration with La Liga, the European soccer league based in Spain.
The app will have a soft launch in Spain this fall for both iOS and Android devices. This marks EA’s expansion beyond games to interact with sports fans globally, as noted by EA CEO Andrew Wilson during the company’s 2024 investor day.
The EA Sports App is initially focused on social engagement, offering a mix of sports content, live sports data, social messaging, interactivity, and gaming centered around Global Football. The goal is to merge real and virtual sports content to connect, engage, and reward fans worldwide with exclusive access to their favorite sports.
“We are targeting new category opportunities to expand beyond our games,” said Cam Weber, head of EA Sports, during the investor presentation. “As we aim to lead the future of sports fandom, we envision becoming a large online community for a broader audience interested in sports, connecting fans through a novel experience.”

“These initial steps are deliberate. Starting this fall, the app will launch in Spain, offering a curated mix of sports content, extensive data, social messaging, interactivity, and gamification focused on European football, delivering a unique experience that only EA Sports can provide,” said David Tinson, chief experiences officer at EA, during the investor talk.
Jorge de la Vega, executive general director of La Liga, expressed that the app carries significant ambitions.
“We share with EA Sports a strong commitment to enhancing the fan experience at every touchpoint with our community. The EA Sports App will revolutionize fan engagement by providing an immersive experience that blends the essence of both La Liga and EA Sports,” stated de la Vega.
