Social platform Dusk, based in San Francisco, has secured $8 million in funding to enhance its operations and development initiatives.
The funding round was led by Makers Fund and byFounders, with contributions from notable game company founders such as Ben Liu (Pocket Gems), Thomas Hartwig (King), and Adi Rathnam (Kamkord).
The platform’s goal is to simplify the creation and enjoyment of multiplayer games on mobile through its Dusk SDK. It provides cross-platform support, including for browser-based games.
For gamers, Dusk offers a social gaming experience with features like voice chat, customizable avatars, and group chats.
Transforming Social Multiplayer Games
CEO and co-founder of Dusk, Sanjay Guruprasad, stated, “Dusk completely reimagines social multiplayer gaming for the mobile generation. Existing gaming platforms cater to a more dedicated audience playing on PCs and consoles. Gen Z desires fun, casual games that they can enjoy together on their phones while engaging in voice chat.”
“This funding demonstrates the confidence our investors have in our vision to revolutionize the creation and enjoyment of social multiplayer games on mobile devices.”
Developers can utilize the Dusk SDK to develop games as if players are on a single device, with the SDK handling networking, latency, and conflict resolution.
The company stated that this enables games to accommodate players across different continents. During the beta phase, indie developers created over 50 titles using the Dusk SDK.
