Language learning platform Duolingo is revolutionizing the learning experience with the introduction of an engaging AI-powered game mode called Adventures.
By gamifying the learning process, Duolingo aims to captivate users as they practice various languages, while also pushing the boundaries of technology.
Another exciting addition is the AI-powered Video Call feature, where players can engage in conversations with Duolingo character Lily.
Lily’s personalized and natural responses enhance interactivity, encouraging language learners to practice speaking without the pressure of a real-world conversation.
Enhanced Learning with AI
The launch of these new AI learning modes follows Duolingo’s strategic decisions in late 2023, including a shift towards AI translations and content creation, resulting in record profitability in the first quarter of 2024.
Introduced in March, Duolingo Max offers users access to features like Explain My Answer and Roleplay, powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4, enabling users to learn from mistakes and practice languages effectively.
The Duolingo team expressed their belief in the synergy between AI and education, emphasizing the use of advanced technology to deliver personalized language lessons and accessible education globally.
Now, with Adventures and Video Call joining the AI lineup, users can experience more immersive and interactive ways to enhance their language skills.

Adventures presents users with engaging storylines and characters within a full Duolingo universe, offering realistic scenarios for language practice such as ordering in a café or getting a passport checked.

Adventures will be available on iOS and Android with further announcements expected at Duolingo’s Duocon 2024 event.
