Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a game that keeps many of its mechanics and systems hidden until you discover them. One of the most detrimental aspects of the game is dragonsplague, a disease that affects Pawns in the game. If not dealt with promptly, dragonsplague can have disastrous consequences for your playthrough. To prevent this from happening, it’s crucial to understand the nature of this disease.
What is dragonsplague?
Dragonsplague is a unique disease that Pawns can contract by coming into contact with Drakes or Dragons. The exact cause of transmission is not entirely clear, but it is known that infected Pawns can pass on the disease to others. Since Pawns can travel between worlds in the game, the risk of infection is ever-present when playing online. Unlike traditional illnesses, dragonsplague transfers between Pawns rather than spreading throughout the game world.
When a Pawn is infected in Dragon’s Dogma 2, they may initially stop following your commands. However, the real danger lies in not recognizing the infection, as it can lead to catastrophic events. Failure to address dragonsplague can result in your Pawn transforming into a monster during the night, causing widespread devastation in the town where you last rested.
How to tell if a Pawn has dragonsplague
To identify if a Pawn has dragonsplague, watch out for the following symptoms:
- If you receive a tutorial message about dragonsplague, one of your Pawns has been infected. This message will only appear once for each infected Pawn.
- Observe if a Pawn stops following orders, particularly during battles.
- Pay attention to the Pawn’s idle animation – an infected Pawn may appear distressed.
- Check the Pawn’s eyes for a telltale sign of dragonsplague – glowing red eyes.
How to cure dragonsplague
If you discover a Pawn with dragonsplague, you have a few options for dealing with it. You can dismiss the infected Pawn at a Rift Stone to remove them from your party. However, if your main Pawn is afflicted, the only solution is to eliminate them. This can be achieved by submerging them in water or allowing them to perish in battle. Once the Pawn dies, the disease will be cured, and recalling them from a Rift Stone will restore them to health.
