Recently, a visual bug caused a common Dota 2 cosmetic item to resemble a rare 2024 Treasure of the Crimson Witness. The bug, which occurred on Sep. 12 and was resolved on Sep. 13, transformed Luna’s Golden Twilight Schism weapon cosmetic into the Twilight Schism of the Crimson Witness.
This bug affected the appearance of the Golden Twilight Schism icon in players’ inventories and on the Steam Community Market. Consequently, the price of the Golden Twilight Schism surged from $0.30 USD to approximately $0.60 USD, almost doubling in value.
A genuine Treasure of the Crimson Witness cosmetic typically sells for over $150 USD, with unopened containers often listed for thousands of dollars. These items are highly sought after, with average prices ranging from $200-300 USD.
While the bug was swiftly rectified, the market saw a surge in prices before its resolution. Unfortunately for buyers who contributed to the price increase, the cosmetic did not function as the Crimson Witness item in-game, leading to disappointment.
The Twilight Schism of the Crimson Witness is an exclusive item that is only obtainable by witnessing a First Blood kill at The International. These items were recently added to the game for The International 2024 (TI13), likely the source of the bug.
