Devolver’s CEO, Douglas Morin, is stepping down from his role and will be replaced by original co-founder Harry Miller. Miller co-founded Devolver in 2009 alongside Rick Stults, Graeme Struther, Nigel Lowrie, and Mike Wilson. Meanwhile, Miller will be leaving his executive chairman position to take on the role of CEO that he previously held before Morin’s appointment. Before joining Devolver, Miller led Ritual Entertainment and held senior roles at Gathering of Developers, Gamecock Media, and En-Tranz Entertainment.
Furthermore, Graeme Struther, COO and co-founder of Devolver, will now be joining the company’s board, and Kate Marsh will be stepping up to the role of non-executive chair, having previously served as senior independent director.
Morin’s Tenure and Upcoming Plans
Morin joined Devolver in 2020 as their chief of staff, taking on the role of CEO in 2021, guiding the company through their IPO that same year. In a statement, Miller expressed his gratitude to Morin for his commitment and achievements during the past four years.
Commenting on the change, Miller said, “I am excited by the opportunity to step back into the CEO role. It’s an incredible pleasure and honor to continue to work with Devolver’s fantastic and talented team, building out a strong pipeline of fun and creativity, and of course, delivering on our long-term growth strategy.”
Recent Developments and Strategies
Following their recent trading update, Miller expressed anticipation for the release of various titles such as Pepper Grinder, The Plucky Squire, Anger Foot, and NEVA in 2024. Additionally, he expects the multiple acquisitions, notably System Era, to contribute to the company’s growth in the near future.
Challenges and Setbacks
However, the company has been facing its own set of challenges, including a period of games delays and a reduction in staff at their Polish studio, Artificer. Moreover, Devolver’s share price has faced fluctuations and currently sits at 18.5gbx, down from its all-time high in January 2022.
