Backbone, a mobile game controller maker, is set to release a limited-edition version of its Backbone One controller with a Death Stranding theme. The release is paired with a free code for the iOS version of Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, which will launch alongside the controller next week.
This limited-edition controller is based on the second-gen USB-C Backbone One controller. It features a beige see-through design on the grip, inspired by the BB Pod from Death Stranding. The controller also bears the logos of both Backbone and Kojima Productions, making it instantly recognizable and appealing to fans of Death Stranding and translucent gaming hardware enthusiasts.
Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is the ultimate version of Hideo Kojima’s narrative-driven adventure and includes extra content compared to the original PS4 release. It first launched on PlayStation 5 in 2021 and is now being released in the form of an iOS version, designed to run on the iPhone 15 Pro and M-series iPad and Mac devices utilizing Apple’s new A17 Pro Chip. While the game will have a retail price of $40 on the App Store, it will be offered for free with the limited-edition $125 controller.
The controller is compatible with both Apple and Android mobile phones, but the game can only be redeemed and played via the Apple App Store. Death Stranding: Director’s Cut for Apple devices and the Backbone One Death Stranding Limited Edition Controller are both set to launch on January 30.
