Esports.net had the privilege of interviewing Daniel Ringland, Riot Games Head of VALORANT Esports, EMEA, before the VCT EMEA Stage 2 Grand Finals, where Fnatic emerged victorious with a 3-1 win.
The interview covered various topics, such as the impact of the January layoffs, potential Saudi sponsorships/events, player feedback on the demanding schedule, and Ringland’s Champions Seoul predictions.
Lee Jones: Any plans for bigger stadium events for future finals?
Maybe watch parties akin to those in the Americas?
Daniel Ringland: Watch parties are happening, and they’re fantastic. We want to see more of them. Fans attending events organized by their favorite teams is even cooler than ones we run. We encourage teams to host these events for their fans, and with many teams having large fan bases, we hope to see more in the future.
Lee Jones: Several players have expressed exhaustion during the current playoffs due to the packed schedule.
Will the schedule be reevaluated for next year based on this feedback?
Daniel Ringland: Definitely. While the format has produced exciting games, we recognize the need to make improvements, particularly in pacing, to ensure players are at their best. Changes will be made to enhance the season for everyone.
