Latest data from Aldora’s report projects mobile games to reach $109.3 billion in revenue in 2024, showing a 3.3% increase year-on-year.
This solidifies mobile’s leading position within the interactive entertainment sector, as noted in Aldora’s Interactive Entertainment 2025 Global Market Sizing & Forecast report, highlighting its “resilience and innovation.”
The combined consumer spending across the three main gaming platforms – mobile, console, and PC – is projected to hit $186 billion this year, with mobile accounting for 59% of the total.
Console sales are on a declining trend, with a 31% drop this year and an additional 11% decrease forecast for 2025. However, software sales on consoles are experiencing a 3.1% growth rate according to Aldora.
Rapid Growth
While mobile continues to lead in consumer spending, PC is expected to see a 4.2% rise to $31.4 billion in 2024, with a forecasted 8.1% increase for the following year.
Aldora identifies emerging technologies, including virtual reality, as the segment with the highest growth potential, expected to grow by 8.9% through 2024. Apple’s Vision Pro is highlighted as a product driving this expansion, although it remains smaller compared to other established sectors as of now.
Aldora predicts emerging technology consumer spending to reach $3.8 billion in 2025, still a small fraction of the projected $250.2 billion for the entire interactive entertainment industry.
Recovery and Growth
In 2024, blockchain games are seeing a 21% increase in consumer spending, expected to reach $651 million. Aldora attributes this growth to the broader recovery of cryptocurrency, while also noting declines in revenue for major game companies in this segment.
