Activision, the publisher of Call of Duty, has announced a partnership with Coda Payments, a monetization solutions platform, to introduce the Call of Duty: Mobile web store. This move comes after obtaining legal clearance to promote web stores within apps on Android and iOS stores. The partnership’s goal is to provide players across the globe with exclusive deals and in-game content.
According to VentureBeat, the decision to form such partnerships was influenced by legal changes within the gaming industry, including the European Union’s mandate for gatekeeper platforms to permit alternative web stores in European markets. Additionally, a jury ruling favoring Epic Games against Google determined that Google violated antitrust laws by attempting to hinder game companies from establishing and promoting alternative app stores.
The new Call of Duty: Mobile Web Store is described as a marketplace for discovering the best value in-game content and experiences. It provides players with unbeatable deals and rewards, enhancing their gaming experience. Activision has promised a wide range of exclusive discounts, seasonal promotions, and bonus COD Points to enrich the overall gaming experience.
To celebrate the launch, players can enjoy a 50% bonus on COD Points, as well as other giveaways and promotions throughout the year. New users of the platform will also receive a 20% discount on their first store purchase per User ID.
Coda Payments, with over a decade of experience, manages monetization and content discovery across gaming and other domains globally. The company’s extensive reach and prior collaborations with industry leaders make it a valuable partner for Activision.
