Kokku, a co-development studio, has recently made changes at its Portugal office, resulting in the layoff of seven staff. This decision was made after an operational review to align the studio with the strategic goals of parent company OV Entertainment Group. The aim is to support structured and scalable growth within the organization.
Despite the layoffs, the office will continue to operate as usual, and there will be no impact on Kokku’s Brazil studios. The company was acquired by OV Entertainment Group earlier this year and currently employs 170 staff. Kokku has a strong track record of working with industry giants like Activision, Codemasters, EA, and Netflix.
Operational Review
In a statement, the company explained the reason behind the staff adjustments in Portugal. It was part of a strategic evaluation process to optimize resources and ensure long-term sustainability. The decision was made after careful consideration and was communicated transparently to the entire company.
Kokku reassured its commitment to delivering high-quality projects and innovation, while also investing in sustainable growth for its employees, clients, and partners. The company appreciates the support and understanding as they move forward with these adjustments.
