Cloud9, the North American esports organization, has returned to the Dota 2 scene by signing the roster of the European-based, Indian-owned team Entity. The announcement was made on Sunday, July 21, across various social media platforms.
The new Cloud9 Dota 2 roster, now known as Cloud9 BC.GAME, includes Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov, Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko, Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin, Vladislav “Kataomi`” Semenov, and Dzmitry “Fishman” Palishchuk. Coach Filipe Astini will also continue to work with the team under their new organization. The team’s BC.Game sub-title is derived from Cloud9’s crypto betting sponsor of the same name.
As of now, details regarding the acquisition and the future of Entity in Dota 2 remain unknown. Entity’s social media accounts have retweeted the announcement, but a formal farewell post has not been made. Esports.net has reached out to Entity for further clarification.
Cloud9’s History in Dota 2
Cloud9 has had a turbulent history in Dota 2, frequently changing rosters without long-term stability. Their initial entry into Dota 2 in 2014 featured renowned players like Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao, SingSing, and Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling.
Since then, Cloud9 has gone through multiple roster changes and short-lived line-ups. Despite having notable players, the organization has struggled to maintain success in the competitive scene. However, with their current roster’s recent success in the TI Western Europe Closed Qualifiers, fans are hopeful that Cloud9 will see a resurgence in their Dota 2 performance.
