Managing a social presence in today’s landscape can be challenging, especially for those who are exploring new Twitter-like services such as Mastodon, Nostr, and Bluesky. Staying active across multiple networks often results in duplicate posts. Fortunately, developers are now addressing this need for cross-posting tools. In addition to scheduling services like Fedica and Postpone, a new app called Nootti allows users to post to Mastodon, Nostr, and Bluesky from one interface.
While awaiting the launch of multi-service social networking and news trackers like Tapestry, Nootti’s iOS app can simplify the process of sharing posts across popular Twitter/X alternatives. Additionally, the app allows users to cross-post the same message to other apps, such as X and Meta’s Threads, using Apple’s native “Share via…” option. This is a clever workaround given the limited APIs of Threads and X.
Nootti, named after the Finnish word for “note,” is simple yet effective. It may not offer all the features available when posting directly on the platforms, but it is suitable for simple text or text-plus-media posts. The app includes a character count and the ability to upload media from your Camera Roll before sending the post on its way.
To use Nootti, users must first configure their accounts in the settings. The app also allows for customization of each post for different platforms. Users can type their post in the “Main” tab and then edit the message for individual networks before publishing the customized set of messages to all three networks at once.
Developer Petri Kajander built Nootti with the goal of supporting users who want to extend their social media presence across multiple platforms. He emphasizes the importance of staying engaged with each community and customizing posts for each platform, rather than relying on auto-posting.
Nootti is currently available as a free download on the App Store, with a paid version in development. Kajander is exploring revenue models for the paid version and is considering possible support for other networks. In the meantime, users can cross-post to other apps using the share button within Nootti.
