Cambridge Audio introduces its first wireless headphones – the Melomania P100, tailored towards audiophiles who prioritize sound quality. Priced at $279, these noise-canceling headphones are available in black or white from July onwards on cambridgeaudio.com and Amazon.
The P100 showcases a blend of aluminum and plastic materials, similar to top-tier headphones, but stands out with AB amplification usually found in high-fidelity components. This audiophile-grade technology enhances sound quality beyond what traditional wireless headphones offer.
While AB amplifiers excel in sound quality, they are less power-efficient compared to class D amplifiers commonly found in wireless audio devices. Despite this, the P100 boasts an impressive battery life of up to 60 hours with ANC on and a staggering 100 hours with ANC off, complemented by a quick-charge feature that provides two extra hours of playtime after just five minutes of charging.
The P100 is equipped to deliver lossless, CD-quality audio with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound platform for compatible smartphones, supported by aptX Lossless Bluetooth codec. Even without this feature, users can enjoy hi-res audio via aptX Adaptive codec, along with Bluetooth Multipoint for dual-device connections.
For those seeking lossless audio, the P100 supports two wired connections: USB-C to 3.5mm jack or USB-C to USB-C, catering to a wide range of devices including Android Phones and the iPhone 15.
The P100 features custom 40mm triple-layer drivers tuned for the signature “Cambridge sound,” with a seven-band equalizer in the Melomania Connect app for personalized sound adjustments. Additionally, a game mode minimizes wireless latency, enhancing gaming experiences with memory foam earcup pads and adjustable clamping force for comfort.
Notable for its user-replaceable earcup pads and rechargeable battery, the P100 offers durability and customization rarely seen in wireless headphones.
