Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is gearing up for its release. Activision recently announced that the upcoming shooter will be entering early access and open beta stages very soon.
Those who have preordered the game will have access to the early access open beta, scheduled to take place from August 30 to September 4. Following that, the regular open beta will be open to all players from September 6 to 9. This means that those in the early access period will have an extra day to experience the game before its official release on October 25.
A blog post on the Call of Duty website also mentions that subscribers to Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass PC, or Game Pass Console will also have the opportunity to join the early access period.
The news was initially highlighted by CharlieIntel on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that the Xbox website had announced the beta. This announcement coincided with the launch of the first episode of the COD Pod, Xbox’s official Call of Duty podcast, which officially unveiled the dates.
Black Ops 6 will be available on various platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will also be on Game Pass at launch, marking a milestone since Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard in 2023. As part of this move, there will be some significant price changes and enhancements to the subscription service.
You can still preorder the game, with a standard edition priced at $70 and a Vault Edition for $100. Players with the Vault Edition will be able to access any operator from the Hunters vs Hunted Operator Pack.
While Activision releases a new Call of Duty game annually, Black Ops 6 promises to bring fresh elements to the franchise. Our summer preview hinted at innovations, with Treyarch leading the charge on this entry by exploring spy themes from the 1990s and introducing a new traversal system called Omnimovement.
