Bluesound, a wireless multiroom audio company competing directly with Sonos, has introduced three new options for integrating hi-res streaming audio into existing hi-fi systems: the Node Nano ($299), Node ($549), and Node Icon ($999). These new network music streamers represent a significant expansion of Bluesound’s product line, offering both more affordable and higher performance devices for a variety of consumers.
With ongoing issues related to Sonos’ app redesign, Bluesound’s new streamers are arriving at the perfect time for Sonos owners or those considering a first-time Sonos purchase, introducing them to alternative options.
The Node Nano, available starting August 20, is an ultra-compact streamer designed for digital music sources. The new Node is an updated version of Bluesound’s existing streamer, incorporating features and components from the limited-edition Node X, including a THX AAA-powered headphone output. Preorders for the Node start on August 20 in black or white, with shipping commencing on September 24. The Node Icon is a premium streamer with a 5-inch color display and balanced XLR outputs, providing professional-grade connectors for the first time in Bluesound’s lineup.
For the first time, Bluesound’s Node and Node Icon can be upgraded with Dirac Live Room Correction by purchasing a license directly from Dirac, along with Bluesound’s calibration kit featuring a high-sensitivity microphone.
