Blockus, a web3 gaming tech stack and payments provider, has secured $4 million in pre-seed funding. The round was led by Maple VC with participation from Altos Ventures and angel investors like Zhuoxun Yin from Magic Eden, Michael Ma from CreatorDAO, and Bryan Pelligrino from LayerZero.
This funding round comes after Blockus’s participation in a16z Crypto’s Startup Accelerator. This program not only helped Blockus connect with advisors but also introduced the company to its pre-seed investors.
“This pre-seed raise is a significant milestone for us,” said Jess Zhang, co-founder and CEO of Blockus. “The confidence shown by investors like Maple VC is both gratifying and motivating. We are excited to bring our blockchain solutions to more studios and developers, unlocking the next level of innovation in the gaming industry.”
Blockus’s technology platform makes it easy for game studios to onboard players and integrate on-chain features into their games. Their “wallet-as-a-service” model, white-label NFT marketplace, and payments processing for fiat and crypto payments allow studios to focus on game development instead of blockchain infrastructure.

Blockus has already established partnerships with over 30 companies, including web3 game developers like Ambrus Studio and major gaming chains like Polygon and Sui. They also support traditional gaming platforms such as Epic Games’ Unreal Engine.
“We are thrilled with Blockus’s latest milestone,” said Johnson Yeh, Founder & CEO of Ambrus Studio. “As pioneers in the gaming industry, we are proud to collaborate with a company that is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. The potential for Web3 in gaming is vast, and we believe Blockus will be a key player in shaping its future.”
Blockus Aims to Power Web3 Gaming Growth
Despite some consumers’ skepticism about crypto, dApp activity is increasing. February 2024 saw a record high of 6.7 million daily unique active wallets, with a significant number engaging in gaming dApps. Analysts project the Web3 gaming market to exceed $600 billion by 2030, with Blockus aiming to capitalize on this growth to support blockchain game developers.
“Blockus has the potential to usher in a new era of gaming based on decentralization and player ownership,” said Andre Charoo, General Partner at Maple VC. “With the founders’ expertise in gaming and Web3 technologies, combined with their track record, they are a compelling team to support. We believe Blockus is poised to lead the Web3 gaming revolution.”
The funding will enable Blockus to accelerate growth, expand its team, enhance sales operations, and invest in product development.
To celebrate the funding, Blockus is offering $20,000 in credits to potential clients for the next two weeks. Teams can apply on Blockus’ website. The team will also be at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) next week, hosting an offsite event on March 21 at SPIN bar.
