Blizzard Entertainment, known for games like World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch, has announced that BlizzCon 2024 will not be taking place.
BlizzCon was a popular convention held by Blizzard Entertainment annually from 2005 to 2019 to showcase their games and reveal new updates. Due to the pandemic and workplace issues, there were no conventions in 2020 and 2022 (with 2021 being digital-only), but BlizzCon made a comeback in 2023. Despite the speculation that BlizzCon would return in 2024, a recent blog post from Blizzard confirmed otherwise. However, Blizzard expressed the possibility of future returns for BlizzCon, stating, “We are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years.”
In the absence of BlizzCon 2024, Blizzard will share updates on their games and expansions, such as World of Warcraft: The War Within and Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, at other industry events like Gamescom, Overwatch Championship Series appearances at DreamHack Dallas and DreamHack Stockholm, and various global, in-person events planned to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Warcraft.
