Ayaneo, a company known for producing handheld consoles for various gaming niches, has recently released two new retro handheld devices. The Ayaneo Pocket DMG and Pocket Micro are Game Boy-inspired devices that offer Android and game emulation options.
The Pocket DMG closely resembles a classic Game Boy but with advanced features such as a 3.92-inch OLED screen, a 6,000mAh battery, and a Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chip. It is powerful, promises long battery life, and delivers excellent game graphics. Weighing only 9.8 ounces, it is highly portable for extended play sessions without straining your wrists.
Unique features of the Pocket DMG include a tiny joystick, a touchpad that functions as a mouse, and a wheel for volume control and other actions like scrolling through menus. It can also be customized for specific apps. The device is available in Moon White and Arctic Black colors, with a limited-edition Retro Color option reminiscent of the classic Game Boy.
The Pocket Micro, as the name suggests, is smaller and less powerful than the DMG. It features a 3.5-inch 960 by 640 screen and a 2,600mAh battery, offering lower resolution but decent performance. Despite its smaller size, it boasts an aluminum alloy frame for durability. The device is available in Magic Black and Soul Red colors, with a Retro Grey option mimicking an NES controller.
Both devices are currently available on Indiegogo, with the DMG priced at $341 and the Micro at $190 for early-bird backers. The prices will increase to $449 and $250, respectively, once the promotion ends. The Micro is set to start shipping in September, with the DMG following at the end of October. To secure your device at the best price and earliest delivery, it is recommended to back the campaign now.
