The world is facing a mental health crisis due to various global concerns such as conflicts, climate change, and economic instability.
To address mental health struggles, many individuals are turning to apps. The global mental health apps market was valued at $6.2 billion in 2023, according to Grand View Research.
Scribble Journey is an art therapy and mental health app designed to help users express their emotions through art. A new feature on iOS devices allows users to complete drawing activities within the app. Users can choose daily intentions like “Build Self Love” or “Explore Emotions” and engage in activities like the “Emotion Color Wheel” for guided drawing exercises.
After completing a drawing, users can reflect on their emotions through guided journaling prompts, saving entries in their “Journey” log for future reference.
Scribble Journey has updated its platform to integrate PencilKit for better drawing experiences on iOS devices, providing users with more flexibility and ease of use. Other new features include autosave, daily suggestions, simplified navigation, and additional activities, bringing the total to 21 with more planned for the future.
To make the app more accessible, Scribble Journey has reduced its pricing, offering an annual subscription at $20 and a monthly subscription at $2.99. New users can also enjoy a free trial period, with annual subscribers getting one month free and monthly subscribers receiving two weeks free.
Originating as physical activity cards on an Etsy store, Scribble Journey was founded by Stephanie Hubbard in 2020. The app was inspired by Hubbard’s research on art therapy during her college years, where she found solace through drawing and journaling to cope with stress.
Art therapy has been recognized as a beneficial form of therapy dating back to the 1940s, offering emotional and social support to individuals. Scribble Journey transitioned from physical kits to a digital app after its success, with ongoing updates and new features planned for the future.
With upcoming updates like Journaling Suggestions and notifications, Scribble Journey continues to evolve to support its growing user base. An iPad version of the app is also in development for broader accessibility in the coming months.
