Studio Wildcard’s popular dinosaur hunting game, Ark: Survival Evolved, is set to launch a new mobile version later this year. The Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition will consolidate all expansion packs into one comprehensive package just in time for the holiday season.
This definitive version will incorporate DLCs such as Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis Parts 1 & 2, introducing new maps and eras to the gameplay. After being released on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, it is now making its way to mobile devices in late 2024.
This mobile release follows a similar path to its predecessor, Ark: Survival Evolved, which debuted on PC and consoles in 2017 before its mobile launch in June 2018.
Since its launch, the action-adventure game has amassed $48.3 million in revenue across the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, according to data from AppMagic.
The Prehistoric Predecessor
The announcement of Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition for mobile comes after a decline in consumer spending for the original Survival Evolved mobile game over the past three years. In 2023, the game generated $3.6 million in revenue, down from $7 million in 2022 and $10.1 million in 2021. Its most profitable year was 2020, with earnings of $10.9 million from mobile players.
As of mid-2024, Survival Evolved has generated $1.4 million in revenue so far this year on mobile platforms.
The highest revenue share for the game on mobile comes from the US at 51%, followed by Japan at 15% and South Korea at 4%.
In terms of downloads, Survival Evolved has been downloaded 49.3 million times on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, with the US accounting for 19% of total installations. Brazil and Thailand follow closely with 9% and 7%, respectively.
In the past 30 days, the game has garnered around 889,000 downloads, with Brazil contributing 25% of total installations. Vietnam and the US come next at 10% and 8%, respectively.
