Aside from the changes coming to LoL Patch 14.15, Riot Games is also focusing on improving the Arena, specifically the Koi Pond.
LoL Patch 14.15 – Arena improvements
Balancing is crucial in a game mode like the Arena, just like in Summoner’s Rift. With Riot planning to keep Arena available for a longer period (4 months), maintaining balance is essential to prevent player frustration with overpowered or weak mechanics.
Riot Phroxzon shared insights on the upcoming changes to the Koi Pond: “We are focusing on iterative improvements to the map before making significant decisions. While this may not be the news some were hoping for, we are confident that we can make progress by fine-tuning certain elements of the map.”
The main objective is to adjust the Lilypad and Ring of Fire timings before closing to create a more balanced playing field for both melee and ranged champions.
Below are the planned changes for the Arena:
Arena changes
Lillypad
- Close Time: 5.4s to 10.8s
- Respawn Time: 6.6s to 3.2s
Blastcones
- Bug Fix: Chemtech Blastcones now behave correctly after initial use
- Blastcone cooldown increased to 10s
- Moved Blastcone on North Island closer to the center
- Removed Blastcone on South East Island
Hexgates
- Hexgate Cooldown reduced to 8s (Koi Pond only)
Brush
- Additional brush added to each island
Player Spawn Locations
- Players can no longer spawn on the South East Island
Ring of Fire
- Initial Size increased by 16% (Koi Pond only) for more response time
- Ring can now close on any island, with higher likelihood on South East Island
Movement
- Clicking on an island when the Lillypad is closed will now move your champion to the closest point on the edge of your island
