Exciting news for iPhone users – iOS 18 has finally arrived! If you have a compatible iPhone (which includes a wide range of models), you can download the update by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update. If the update is not available immediately, keep checking as it will gradually become accessible to everyone.
iOS 18 marks a significant update for the iPhone, introducing Apple Intelligence – a suite of AI-powered tools that bring Apple in line with its competitors. Please note that to access Apple Intelligence features, you will need an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max due to processing power requirements. The upcoming iPhone 16 models, set for release on Friday, will all support Apple Intelligence. However, the official launch of Apple Intelligence will be with iOS 18.1, scheduled for release in October.
While the delay may be disappointing, iOS 18 includes a host of other exciting features worth exploring.
One of the standout features is home screen customization. Users now have the flexibility to place app icons and widgets anywhere on the grid, allowing for unique layouts with spaces between icons or widgets. Additionally, a new dark theme for app icons and widgets is available when Dark Mode is enabled. You can also utilize a theming tool to change app icon colors to match your wallpaper.
Control Center has received a significant redesign, offering a new look and the ability to have multiple pages of controls. Users can customize and rearrange controls, with third-party developers now able to add controls for their apps. Lock screen shortcuts can be changed to other apps beyond the flashlight and camera, including third-party options.
Messages now support RCS messages to Android devices, eliminating pixelated media and adding features like read receipts and message scheduling. Other notable features in iOS 18 include a Passwords app, redesigned Photos and Mail apps, Tap to Cash and reward system support in Apple Wallet, and more.
iOS 18 is now available for iPhone XR and later models.
