When is the Event Scheduled?
Apple has historically held events in October, usually on a Monday or Tuesday, although the exact week can vary. Below are the dates of Apple’s October events from previous years:
- 2023: Monday, October 30
- 2021: Monday, October 18
- 2020: Tuesday, October 13
- 2018: Tuesday, October 30
There were no October events in 2019 or 2022. Based on past patterns, the most likely dates for this year’s event are either October 14-15 or October 28-29, with a slight possibility for October 21-22.
M4 MacBook Pro
The MacBook Pro received M3-series chips in its last update in October 2023. With rumors swirling about Apple moving to an annual refresh cycle, it’s likely that the MacBook Pro may see updates in October powered by the M4 chip. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, updates are expected across the lineup, with the entry-level 14-inch model getting the M4 chip, and other models receiving M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.
While design changes are not anticipated, as the chassis was revamped in 2021, a new OLED MacBook Pro is still in development and not expected until 2026 at the earliest.
Redesigned M4 Mac Mini
The Mac Mini has maintained its design since June 2010 and is now due for a significant revamp, as per Mark Gurman’s reports. The new design is expected to shrink the Mac Mini to the size of an Apple TV box while increasing its height. Additionally, leaked macOS code suggests the inclusion of five USB-C ports, with two on the front for easier access and three at the back, along with M4 and M4 Pro chips.
M4 iMac
A refreshed iMac is likely for October, with minor tweaks such as the introduction of the M4 chip. Expect potential upgrades for the Magic accessories as well, including USB-C charging ports as Apple transitions away from Lightning connectors to comply with EU regulations.
The iPad and iPad Mini
According to Mark Gurman, new iPads, including an upgraded iPad mini, are expected at the October event. The plural use of “iPads” hints at potential updates for more than just the iPad mini, possibly including the entry-level iPad.
Products Not Expected at the Event
While the October event will focus on Mac-related updates, it is unlikely that certain Apple computers, such as the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, will be revealed. Rumors also suggest that the MacBook Air may see an upgrade in spring 2025, rather than in October. Additionally, products like the new iPhone SE, AirTags upgrades, and a new Apple TV box are expected in 2025 and not at this event.
