Almost a year since the release of Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment has introduced a significant update to the game. This update includes options to greatly reduce the difficulty, making the game more accessible to players.
According to a post published on Monday, the studio has added a series of quality-of-life updates and expanded features in the Gameplay Assist menu. These assist options allow players to adjust combat difficulty levels to their preference, including toggling player invulnerability and immortality, infinite ammo, flashlight batteries, and a one-shot kill feature to breeze through enemies.
While these features may lessen the scare factor, they provide an excellent opportunity for players who may have been hesitant to try Alan Wake 2 or seek a more simplified gameplay experience to enjoy the story, visuals, and music.
In addition to combat adjustments, Remedy has incorporated features like inverting the X axis for both mouse and controller, a quick turn option, and the ability to auto-complete quick-time events, addressing common player requests.
For PlayStation 5 users, the update includes gyro aiming for DualSense controllers, haptic support, and enhancements for the PlayStation 5 Pro version of Alan Wake 2, which leverages Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology for improved performance.
Another announcement from Remedy highlights the enhancements made specifically for the PlayStation 5 Pro, including improvements to performance modes and graphics quality using AI upscaling technology.
The update, set to launch on October 22 alongside The Lake House DLC, provides players with a final story expansion for Alan Wake 2. A preview of gameplay, new monsters, and ties to Control was showcased at the October 2024 Xbox Partner Preview event.
