After years of development, the massive Fallout 4 mod Fallout: London is now available. The team at Team FOLON announced the release, and it can be downloaded for free exclusively on GOG.
This DLC-sized mod, weighing around 33.8GB, has been in progress for approximately five years with a team of 50 developers and contributions from 200 others. This release marks the first time a Fallout game has ventured outside the U.S. (albeit unofficially) since the launch of Fallout 76 in 2018. The franchise is gaining momentum, especially with the Fallout TV show earning 16 Emmy nominations.
To install the mod, use the GOG Galaxy launcher. You will need Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition. Launch Fallout: London through the launcher and follow the installation instructions. Note that Fallout: London will overwrite your Fallout 4 and is irreversible without uninstalling and reinstalling the base game.
For Steam users, installation is more complicated, but a downgrader is available on Nexus Mods.
By December, the mod was fully playable and boasted features like 200 quests, 20 factions, an original soundtrack, and voice acting from notable talents such as Neil Newbon, Sylvester McCoy, Colin Baker, and even John Bercow, former Speaker of the House of Commons. It truly feels like an official DLC.
At one point, the mod faced challenges when Bethesda announced a next-gen update for Fallout 4 without notifying the team, rendering much of Fallout: London incompatible. Project lead Dean Carter expressed disappointment at the lack of communication from Bethesda.
In an interview with TheGamer, Carter revealed that the mod was initially intended for release on Nexus Mods but faced hosting difficulties.
