The Galaxy S24 Ultra is this year’s Samsung flagship and a device that received high praise in Digital Trends’ review, calling it “the best Ultra ever, and a must buy.” However, ZTE’s sub-brand Nubia is now setting its sights on Samsung with the Nubia Z60 Ultra “Leading Version” and the Z60S Pro, offering solid specs at a reasonable price point that may challenge Samsung in the Chinese market.
The Nubia Z60 Ultra comes with a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is comparable in size to the S24 Ultra but slightly lower in resolution. One standout feature is the 16-megapixel selfie camera housed under the screen, a premium feature not commonly found in more affordable phones. On the rear, the phone boasts a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 64MP periscope zoom lens.
The “NeoVision AI” processing implemented in the Nubia Z60 Ultra enhances the camera system, allowing for improved image quality through AI functions. The phone features a modified version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with varying RAM and storage options. It also boasts a large 6,000mAh battery capacity and 80W wired fast charging, making it a compelling choice.
The Z60S Pro, the more affordable sibling, offers a capable performance with an older Snapdragon processor, large RAM and storage options, a decent battery size, and 80W wired charging support. Both phones come at significantly lower prices compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version starts at $649, and the Z60S Pro comes in at $569, making them a cost-effective alternative to Samsung’s flagship. Preorders are now available, with a global launch scheduled for August 12, 2024, though availability may be limited in the U.S. market.
