Nvidia appears to be preparing for DLSS 4.0 with a new update to its Streamline pipeline, bringing DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation to version 3.7.
This update seems to be targeted at developers, focusing on minor performance and image quality enhancements. Nvidia frequently updates DLSS with improvements to reduce visual artifacts in games.
A user known as Emoose discovered the update and shared the GitHub link on Reddit. The update is part of Nvidia Streamline, a tool that assists developers in integrating upscaling features into their games similar to Microsoft’s DirectSR.
The update also introduces a new preset for developers in Streamline, enhancing the default preset for DLSS Super Resolution.
Building on the current DLSS features, including Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction, the anticipation is growing for DLSS 4.0.
Setting the Stage for DLSS 4.0?
Nvidia took a brief break from DLSS development after DLSS 3.5 but seems to be reviving it, possibly paving the way for DLSS 4.0 later in the year.
Rumors suggest Nvidia may unveil its RTX 50-series GPUs by the end of the year, possibly launching in early 2025 alongside DLSS 4.0 as seen with previous GPU releases.
Nvidia’s commitment to DLSS continues to grow, with talk of potential future versions like DLSS 10. DLSS remains a key selling point for Nvidia, and the focus is shifting towards AI-driven enhancements in gaming.
It’s only a matter of time before DLSS 4.0 becomes a reality, possibly aligning with the release of next-gen Nvidia GPUs later this year.
