Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6 has been a top choice for smartwatch enthusiasts, especially those using Galaxy smartphones. However, while it is a solid device, it mainly brought iterative updates over the Galaxy Watch 5. It’s high time for some significant enhancements to Samsung’s smartwatch line.
Fortunately, it seems like Samsung is gearing up to introduce some exciting changes with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 series later this year. From rumored designs, specifications, release date, and more, here’s what we know so far about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: Release Date
Historically, Samsung has followed a set release schedule for its major products, including the Galaxy Watch series. The Galaxy Watch 4 was unveiled on August 11, 2021, and released on August 27, 2021. The Galaxy Watch 5 series was announced on August 10, 2022, and hit the market on August 26, 2022. The Galaxy Watch 6 series was revealed on July 26, 2023, and became available for purchase on August 11, 2023.
This year, there are indications that the Galaxy Watch 7 series may see an earlier launch than usual. Reports suggest that Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event, possibly on July 10, could unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy Watch 7. This earlier announcement is reportedly aligned with the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where Samsung aims to leverage the event for marketing purposes.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: Price
The Galaxy Watch 6 series starts at $300 for the smallest Wi-Fi-only variant (40mm), with the 4G/LTE model priced at $350. It’s likely that the base model of the Galaxy Watch 7 will have a similar price point.
For the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, the 43mm Wi-Fi-only version starts at $400. With the Galaxy Watch 7, there may be additional variants in this price range or higher. The availability of a Classic model or a new variant will be interesting to see.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: Design
Recent reports suggest that Samsung may return to a square or rectangular face design for the Galaxy Watch 7, departing from the circular design of previous iterations.
While the move to a rectangular face is being considered internally, it’s uncertain if this change will be implemented in the Galaxy Watch 7 series or a future generation. There are speculations of three versions of the Galaxy Watch 7 – base model, Classic/Pro with a rotating bezel, and a third model.
Given the uncertainty, these design rumors should be taken with caution.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: Specs
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is expected to feature the Exynos W940 chip, offering 50% more efficiency and 30% faster performance than its predecessor. This new chip could utilize a 3nm process, a significant improvement over the current 5nm Exynos W930 in the Galaxy Watch 6.
