Calling all tech entrepreneurs! A16Z Games is launching the third iteration of their renowned Speedrun accelerator program, and applications are now open for SR003.
SR003 will take place in Los Angeles for the first time and culminate in a final Demo Day during the San Francisco event of Tech Week 2024, from October 7 to 13. A16Z Games plans to invest up to $75 million in pre-seed startups, offering individual investments of up to $750,000 to selected Speedrun companies.
Each participant is carefully chosen based on their potential for growth, and receives not only financial support from A16Z Games, but also access to a hand-picked group of industry coaches, mentors, and fellow founders.
According to Josh Lu, Investing Partner for A16Z Games, “Speedrun bridges the worlds of tech and games, attracting some of the most innovative entrepreneurs. Our program not only provides funding but also expertise from industry veterans to help founders turn their ideas into successful products.”
The Path to Success
The previous Speedrun accelerator at GDC 2024 saw over 370 investors in attendance, with a total worth exceeding $500 billion. The program is highly selective, with only the top 1% of applicants from the last cohort gaining support. Statistics from SR001 indicate that 80% of selected startups secured funding after the Demo Day.
SR003 will run for 12 weeks starting on July 29, 2024, and will conclude with a Demo Day during SF Tech Week in October 2024. Applications are open until May 19, 2024, at sr.a16z.com.
