Intel and Microsoft have reportedly joined forces in the development of Intel Lunar Lake chips, targeting the thin and light segment of mobile processors. While the specs may seem modest, Lunar Lake shows potential to compete with some of the top processors, posing a threat to Apple.
According to Igor’s Lab, Lunar Lake chips are designed for thin laptops and are expected to launch later this year. These chips, manufactured on TSMC’s N3B node instead of Intel’s own process, feature Intel’s Arc Battlemage integrated graphics, up to 32GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory, and a six-tile neural processing unit (NPU).
Rumored to have a total of eight CPU cores (four performance and four efficiency), Lunar Lake is positioned to rival chips like Apple’s M3, offering a unique value proposition in its segment.
Reports suggest that Intel collaborated closely with Microsoft to optimize Lunar Lake CPUs for Windows 11, enhancing the overall user experience. This partnership could potentially elevate Lunar Lake as a strong competitor in the market, challenging Apple’s dominance.
