Warner Bros. Discovery announced today that the 19th and final season of the popular web series Red vs. Blue will be released as a full-length film.
The film, titled Red vs. Blue: Restoration, will be available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, and Vudu starting May 7. It will also be available for rent starting May 21. The release of the film coincides with the closure of Rooster Teeth Productions at the direction of parent company Warner Bros. Discovery.
After a long hiatus, Red vs. Blue is returning for its final season/film, with co-creator Burnie Burns rejoining the team to work on Restoration alongside director Matt Hullum. Hullum expressed his pride in the production, stating, “Red vs. Blue has been a cornerstone of Rooster Teeth’s legacy, and we’re immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
Burns, who left Rooster Teeth in 2020, confirmed last year that he would be writing the script for the final season/film. In Restoration, the Reds and Blues will have to put aside their past differences to unite and save the galaxy from “the universe’s greatest villain.” Burns remarked, “I’m thrilled to return for Red vs. Blue: Restoration, and to conclude this incredible twenty-one year journey with our longtime fans.”

According to a memo published by IGN, Warner Bros. unsuccessfully attempted to sell Rooster Teeth, leading to the shutdown of the company due to changes in digital media consumption and monetization. The Roost Podcast Network continues to operate, and Warner Bros. is seeking buyers for its series, including Red vs. Blue.
