Microsoft is enhancing Teams with more AI-powered capabilities. The Copilot AI assistant is expanding its presence within the Teams app, introducing new integrations to make meetings smarter and more convenient.
Three major Copilot features are being introduced in Microsoft Teams for calls, chats, and call recaps. Copilot can now extract insights from meeting chats and transcripts, offering a comprehensive overview of the discussions.
Copilot will also integrate into the Teams chat compose box, enabling users to rewrite messages using custom prompts, similar to the feature in Microsoft Edge, saving time and easing the communication process.
A new Copilot feature for VoIP and PSTN callers is set to launch in the next quarter, providing AI-powered insights for these calls to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Teams Rooms users can expect additional enhancements as Microsoft activates IntelliFrame by default on Teams Rooms devices, leveraging Cloud AI to capture individual video feeds of participants. Automatic camera switching and speaker recognition capabilities will be added later this year to improve transcript accuracy.
To explore these features further, visit Microsoft’s Copilot for Work website. Research from Microsoft indicates that Copilot can boost productivity by up to 70%, prompting the company to enhance Teams with more Copilot-related features.
AI remains a focal point for Microsoft, with potential AI-powered features coming to Windows, including an “AI Explorer” to contextualize on-screen activities and enhance gaming quality.
Currently, Copilot in Teams is exclusive to Copilot for Microsoft 365, catering to organizations rather than individuals.
