With over 50 million pre-registrations eagerly waiting for its arrival, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is set to launch on March 21, 2024, after its initial announcement in September 2022.
After a year and a half of anticipation, the highly anticipated global launch of the game is now approaching. With the ability for up to 120 players to compete in battle royale matches, along with classic modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination.
Chris Plummer, SVP and co-head of mobile at Activision, expressed his excitement for the upcoming launch of the game on LinkedIn, calling it “the most ambitious” mobile game he has had the privilege of working on.
“Our mission is to bring together the large Call of Duty community and mobile gamers worldwide through a social and immersive, mobile gaming experience that stays true to COD and is deeply connected to the franchise’s strengths,” said Plummer. He added that it “sets a new standard for mobile gameplay and visuals, both now and in the future.”
Challenges and Clarity
The game has faced challenges and confusion on its path to market, replacing the popular Call of Duty: Mobile title, which was met with some backlash from fans. Additionally, it was involved in the controversy surrounding Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, leading to debates about Microsoft’s plans for the franchise and its availability across multiple platforms.
However, with the acquisition finalized, the completed game almost ready for launch, and a large player base prepared to play from day one, it seems that the confusion and challenges surrounding the game are finally coming to an end.
A Game for the Community
In his message, Plummer expressed gratitude to past and present developers, innovators, and content creators who contributed to 20 years of Call of Duty magic. He emphasized that players worldwide can now experience the real essence of mobile gaming thanks to Activision’s mobile development teams.
Plummer also extended his “deepest heartfelt thanks” to fans and players for their incredible support, feedback, and engagement. He stated that Warzone Mobile is continuously improving because of their involvement and that the team strives to deliver the game that players deserve.
Upon the launch of Warzone Mobile, players can progress across PC and console, leveling up shared weapons and operators, and earning Battle Pass XP in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone.
