WB Games and Player First Games have announced the return of MultiVersus, their free-to-play fighting game featuring characters from various Warner Bros.’ owned properties, set to launch on May 28.
MultiVersus, a fighting game inspired by Super Smash Bros., initially went into Open Beta on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in July 2022 and gained popularity. However, interest waned, prompting a decision by WB Games to take it offline in March 2023 for retooling. Fans have eagerly awaited its return since then.
In a video posted on YouTube on Monday morning, Game Director Tony Huynh confirmed the upcoming return of MultiVersus. The game has undergone significant improvements, including new characters like Marvin the Martian, upgraded visuals using Unreal Engine 5, enhanced moves and mechanics, improved online gameplay performance, and support for cross-play and cross-progression.
The relaunch will introduce a new PvE gameplay mode, featuring characters like Wonder Woman and Finn from Adventure Time battling against computer-controlled opponents.
Upon its release, MultiVersus will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
