Apple released VisionOS 1.1 on Thursday with a significant focus on improving personas of users. The update enhances the representation of hair, makeup, neck, mouth, and eyes for EyeSight, a feature that allows others to see your eyes when wearing the headset.
Users can now create and set up their personas without holding the device by accessing Settings > Persona and selecting “Hands-free Capture” mode after initial setup steps.
The new VisionOS version introduces Mobile Device Management (MDM) for enterprises, enabling admins to customize device configurations, install apps at scale, and remotely erase devices. This capability was announced by the company last month.
Jeremy Butcher, worldwide product marketing for enterprise at Apple, expressed, “We know that in order to unlock all of the power of the Apple Vision Pro, businesses are going to want to manage these devices at scale. So the good news is we’ve got a lot of great technology to bring over to Vision Pro in that regard,” in an interview with TechCrunch.
Other improvements in VisionOS 1.1 include the ability for users to delete system apps from the Home View, better discovery and connection to a Mac with Mac Virtual Display, enhanced text input accuracy with the virtual keyboard, and updated closed caption controls while viewing Apple Immersive video.
