Microids revealed a trailer for Amerzone: The Explorer’s Legacy, set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S later this year. The game is a revamped version of the original Amerzone, an adventure game by Benoit Sokal released in 1999. According to Microids, the game has been enhanced with new puzzles and graphics.
Amerzone, which predates Sokal’s renowned Syberia titles, unfolds in the fictional country of Amerzone. Players will follow the escapades of Valembois, an explorer who traveled to Amerzone to aid a rare white bird species. The developer mentions that the original game has sold over a million copies.
Microids has been continuing Sokal’s adventure game series, with the release of Syberia: The World Before in 2022. Other classic point-and-click adventure games are also making a comeback in the modern gaming landscape, such as Ron Gilbert’s Return to Monkey Island.
