Dogamí Academy, a blend of dog-themed gameplay and blockchain technology, garnered 1,500 players during the early access phase. The game boasts a 60-minute daily playtime and a 21% Day 30 retention rate, surpassing the industry average of 7%. Additionally, over 7% of players made in-game purchases, spending an average of $250.
The move to mainstream mobile gaming places Dogamí Academy among companies testing app store regulations. Both Apple and Google have allowed blockchain games like NFL Rivals on their platforms, provided they offer non-crypto payment options.
Dogamí Academy is positioned as a “Web 2.5” game, allowing players to engage in both traditional free-to-play and Web3 transactions using fiat or cryptocurrencies. The game complies with app store policies.
Adrien Magdelaine, cofounder of Dogamí Academy, stated that the gameplay experience remains consistent for both NFT and free-to-play users, with no direct token trading within the app.
With a focus on dog management gameplay, Dogamí Academy targets a broader audience, including women and families, distinguishing itself from typical Web3 games that struggle to appeal to mainstream users.
In addition to store listings, Dogamí Academy is forging partnerships with gaming and canine influencers to drive downloads and attract Web2 gaming audiences.
Future plans for DOGAMÍ Academy include expanding its brand through merchandise, a comic book, TV series, toys, and other ventures.
Robby Yung, CEO of Animoca Brands, expressed excitement for the launch of DOGAMÍ Academy, while Mansoor Madhavji, partner at Blockchain Founders Fund, praised the game for advancing Web3 gaming on major app stores.
Kristofer Penseyres, cofounder of Dogamí, highlighted the game’s merger of Web2 and Web3 technologies and its goal to reach one million downloads within three months.
Dogamí Academy, the core product, is a hybrid management mobile game on iOS and Android, where players can train their Dogamí, compete in obstacle courses, and earn $DOGA tokens in PVP events. Built on Tezos and Polygon blockchains, the game boasts a community of over 200,000 gamers and 24,000 NFTs sold.
With 25 team members and $14 million in funding from various investors, including Ubisoft and Animoca Brands, Dogamí Academy represents a significant leap in the Web3 gaming landscape.
