Skullcandy introduces the innovative EcoBuds wireless earbuds with a sustainability focus. Instead of a traditional battery-charging case, the $40 EcoBuds feature a charging base with a built-in USB-C connector that draws power from most smartphones, including the iPhone 15. Available from March 5 at various retailers and skullcandy.com.
By foregoing the charging case battery and using 65% certified recycled plastics for construction, the EcoBuds achieve a 50% lower carbon footprint compared to similar wireless earbuds.
In its material reduction efforts, Skullcandy has removed the traditional case lid, relying on built-in magnets to secure the earbuds in place.
The EcoBuds are available in a single blue-and-white marble pattern, inspired by natural landscapes like glaciers which the company aims to protect.
The EcoBuds, with a minimalist design and affordable price, offer three EQ modes, Bluetooth 5.2, and IPX4 sweat and water resistance.

Despite not having a case-based battery, the EcoBuds offer up to 8 hours of battery life and a 10-minute rapid charge that adds 2 hours of playtime when connected to a phone.
The EcoBuds can be easily charged from almost any USB-C power source, although the compact cable length may pose some charging challenges in certain situations.
