Animoca Brands Japan and KDDI are collaborating to boost the adoption of Web3 through Animoca’s Mocaverse and a platform called αU (Alpha U).
Animoca Brands Japan, a Tokyo subsidiary of the Web3 company Animoca Brands, has partnered with KDDI, a major Japanese telecommunications provider, to accelerate the adoption of Web3.
The collaboration aims to provide a seamless and interoperable experience for users exploring Web3 games, culture, and entertainment worldwide through the Mocaverse and αU (Alpha U) platforms, which aim to create a gaming and entertainment metaverse.
The agreement includes plans to integrate Mocaverse’s on-chain decentralized identifier (DID) Moca ID with the αU wallet, allowing users of the αU wallet to easily access Web3 content within the Mocaverse ecosystem.
Furthermore, the collaboration will promote partnerships between Animoca Brands’ intellectual property (IP) and Web3 content on αU, including the sale of NFTs related to the Web3 game Phantom Galaxies on the αU market.
Animoca Brands has made various Web3 investments, and Animoca Brands Japan is instrumental in expanding Japanese IP and content in the Web3 space.
Mocaverse, once Animoca Brands’ NFT project, has become a growth network featuring an interoperable infrastructure layer for on-chain cultural economy, with over 750,000 on-chain users since the launch of Moca ID in November 2023.
Phantom Galaxies, developed by Blowfish Studios, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, is an online multiplayer science fiction action RPG leveraging blockchain technology for unique ownership experiences.
KDDI entered the Web3 and metaverse space with the launch of αU in March 2023, providing a comprehensive service for users to transition between real and virtual worlds seamlessly.
Shunpei Tatebayashi, general manager of Web3 business development at KDDI, expressed excitement about strengthening the collaboration and embarking on new challenges together.
