Warframe by Digital Extremes has been a massive hit on consoles and PC, boasting over 70 million players worldwide. Now, the developer has ventured into the mobile market, aiming to bridge the cross-platform/cross-play gap.
Despite being only available on iOS (with an Android version in the pipeline), the mobile version of Warframe has rapidly gained popularity, with a staggering 368,000 downloads within just three days of its launch, as reported by AppMagic data.
Collaborating with Nitro Games, the mobile Warframe offers the same full gaming experience as its counterparts on other platforms, complete with cross-play functionality. Jussi Elonen, product lead at Nitro Games, shared, “It’s been a privilege to work with such a beloved IP. We’ve made sure our best talents are dedicated to bringing the unique Warframe gameplay to the mobile audience, incorporating feedback from hardcore players to enhance the mobile experience.”
Warframe’s mobile debut not only saw impressive download numbers but also soared to the top ranks in Apple’s App Store’s action and role-playing charts, as celebrated by Christina (Chride) Lassheikki, a narrative & game designer at Nitro Games, in a post on LinkedIn.
Rebecca Ford, creative director of Warframe, emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency across all platforms for players. With successful implementation of cross-platform play and progress continuity, the mobile release is seen as the final piece of the puzzle in delivering a unified gaming experience across different platforms.
As the Warframe community continues to grow, the developers are committed to ensuring a seamless gaming experience for all players, with an Android release expected later this year.
