Meta has announced the testing of two highly requested features on Threads: drafts and in-app camera. Currently, only a limited number of users have access to these features, said Instagram head Adam Mosseri.
Users with draft access can save just one post at a time. However, they can compose and save a post for later by swiping down. The Threads app displays a unique icon in the bottom bar indicating when there is a post draft that hasn’t been published yet.
In addition to the drafts feature, Mark Zuckerberg recently shared a photo using the new camera shortcut that opens in the Threads composer. This new shortcut streamlines the process of quickly posting a photo to Threads, although it’s unclear if basic editing functions such as cropping are available.
This update coincides with X’s potential adoption of Threads-style carousels for displaying images, according to app researcher Nima Owji.
With over 130 million active users, Threads is striving to introduce more engagement tools for its user base. Earlier this month, the company rolled out trending topics and began testing cross-posting capabilities from Facebook.
