Gameloft, a French-based developer and publisher, is currently undergoing staff layoffs at their Toronto, Canada and Lviv, Ukraine offices, resulting in at least 38 employees leaving the company across multiple departments.
While the company operates 18 studios worldwide, the layoffs have so far only affected their facilities in Toronto and Lviv.
According to Tetyana Zadorozhna, HR Communication Specialist at Gameloft’s Lviv studio, “Gameloft has been supporting Ukraine since the first days. Each of the studios here has already demonstrated its resilience and professionalism many times, but due to market conditions, the company is forced to optimize resources and rationalize some projects, resulting in the unfortunate reduction of 38 employees. However, the Kharkiv and Lviv studios remain key players in the development of Gameloft games.”
Coinciding with the return of demobilized military personnel to the Lviv office, the company is faced with the challenge of restructuring projects and resources.
At present, 600 staff work in Gameloft’s offices in Kharkiv and Lviv, with layoffs being reported only within the Lviv office.
Sharing her story on LinkedIn, Victoria Sinyakova, a QA Engineer at GlobalLogic, shared her husband’s experience, stating that he was abruptly informed of his termination after being praised for his performance and dedication.
More employees have also taken to LinkedIn to express their frustration and seek new job opportunities following the layoffs.
Additionally, Gameloft is downsizing at their Toronto office as part of a larger global restructuring, with multiple departments impacted. Staff at the Toronto office are also sharing their experiences and seeking new opportunities.
